Jin-Soo Kim is an entrepreneur and chemist-turned-biologist. In 1999, he founded ToolGen, Inc., which focuses on CRISPR genome editing. In 2022, he established Edgene, Inc. and GreenGene, Inc, specializing in therapeutic mitochondrial DNA editing for the treatment of mitochondrial genetic disorders and plastid gene editing to enhance the efficiency of photosynthesis and carbon fixation in plants, respectively. Currently, he serves as a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore.
