IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute
Monica Casucci is the head of the Innovative Immunotherapies Unit at the IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute (OSR, Milan, IT). Her research interests are focused on CAR T-cell therapy of cancer. During her PhD/postdoc, she developed a new CAR-based strategy targeting CD44v6 and she took part to the development of one of the first animal models recapitulating cytokine release syndrome/neurotoxicity. Now she is involved in the preclinical program on CAR-T cell therapy of cancer at OSR and she participates to different Consortia aimed at promoting the bench-to-bedside translation of CAR-T cell therapies in Italy and in Europe. Main activities of her Research Unit include improvement of CAR T-cell fitness, validation of novel CAR specificities, development of strategies to boost efficacy against solid tumours, and exploitation of preclinical models to profile CAR T-cell performances and toxicity profile.
