Professor Foster is the Professor of Hepatology at Queen Mary University of London. He has a long-standing academic interest in viral infections of the liver and has published extensively on hepatitis C viral infections. His interest in gene therapy comes from managing patients with hepatitis following AAV mediated therapy and he now leads an academic group studying strategies to mitigate the impact of AAV on the liver.
