Asaf completed his Ph.D. in Physiology, Biophysics, and Systems Biology from Cornell University. In 2020, Asaf joined BioNTech SE through its acquisition of Neon Therapeutics, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Asaf established the Systems Immunology group in BioNTech US in Cambridge MA in 2021. The team brings together computational biology, structural biology, and immunology expertise to vaccine design, supporting programs such as Malaria (BNT165), Mpox (BNT166), HIV (BNT168), and more.
