Xavier Trepat is an ICREA Research Professor at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), where he leads the Integrative Cell and Tissue Dynamics group. Trained in physics and engineering, his research focuses on the physical principles of tissue dynamics during development, homeostasis, and disease. He develops novel technologies to measure and manipulate mechanical forces in living tissues. His work is highly interdisciplinary, combining biophysics, cell biology, and engineering.
